The images were made during a trip with my university students during the day of the dead (November 1st 2003). The place is named Malinalco, which means "the place of the flowers".
More than a sad day, this day is a happy celebration of the dead.
As we see in the pictures, some of the people from the village dance in the 'platz' dressed in black with their faces painted like skelletons, and some others remember their relatives gone by putting an 'altar' full of candles into their home.
After that brief trip, I decided to put some of the pictures together so they could have another meaning, maybe more ambigious.
