The human-like figures are taken from pedestrian crossing signs which have recently begun appearing in Hanoi, where i have been living for several years now. i have placed these figures in the landscape of my former home in Canada. While these figures can be seen as representing Asia - my current home, in a sense they are foreign here (as i am) since they are based on traffic signs from the West - my former home. Still, they come from the streets of Hanoi, and have been taken out of that context and culture and placed in another, echoing my own cross-cultural movement, but in the opposite direction.
