Robbie Lynn Hunsinger
is a classical oboist, avant-garde double reedist and multimedia artist
living in Chicago,IL . In her most recent classical outing this December
she performed Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
and Peter Schreier, playing second Oboe d'amore obbligato
Hunsinger is currently the sound artist for architects Douglas Garofalo
and Randy Kober's iN.fOrmant system installation at the Museum of Contemporary
Art. For iN.fOrmant system, she designed an interactive environment using
light sensors to trigger sounds from six independent speakers.
On February 6th, Hunsinger performed at the Museum, playing chinese oboe,
shenai, english horn and oboe with bassist Tatsu Aoki and percussionist
Davu Seru. In addition to using the iN.fOrmant system as a stage, the
musicians played the structure itself. The installation piece proved to
be a versatile and resonant percussion/string instrument which all three
players used in their improvisation. iN.fOrmant system is made from triangular
zinc panels, metal rods, and sheets of steel and plastic, all held taut
by 99 suspension wires, which Hunsinger and Seru tuned before the concert.

Pursuing her interest in media technology, Hunsinger is authoring two
interactive CDs, one on the iN.fOrmant system project and another involving
feminist content. Hunsinger performs regularly with Tatsu Aoki's group,
Miyumi Ensemble with Mwata Bowden. She is working on a duet CD with Aoki,
as well as a new trio with Aoki and Joseph Jarman.
She was perfoming in March at the Women in Jazz Festival at HotHouse,
Chicago .
This May, Robbie is very excited to be touring Europe and recording with
percussionist Michael Vorfeld, Berlin.
